ARRAS BRITISH STRONGHOLD 1914-18

During the first World War the historic town of Arras was on the front line between the allied forces and the German army. As a result it was almost entirely destroyed but never captured - defended by the British army and those of the present day Commonwealth. On the blog devoted above all to its reconstruction - which has made it a showpiece of Art Deco - there is a section devoted to the above armies which I was asked to translate. It describes the defence of the twon and is amply illustrated. To visit the blog and read that section, I invite you: 1. To type the URL of the blog in your browser : http://arraslagrandereconstruction.fr 2. On the home page click on "Menu" on the right. 3. In the drop-down list "Thématiques" click on "La Guerre (13)" 4. From the page LA GRANDE RECONSTRUCTION, ARRAS VILLE NOUVELLE scroll down to ARRAS A L'HEURE BRITANNIQUE 5. At the base of this page is an invite in blue.A click on it gives access to the section in English.
